Start with the active

Where a product contains a regulated active such as Minoxidil, the strength and the directions are the most important information on the pack. Everything else is supporting detail.

Then read the vehicle

Alcohol and propylene glycol affect how a product feels and dries, and are a common source of scalp discomfort. Cosmetic ingredients further down the list are generally present in smaller amounts.

Treat claims carefully

Descriptive cosmetic claims such as thicker-looking or fuller-looking hair describe appearance. They are not equivalent to a clinical endpoint, and a good label makes that distinction clear.
