Ketoconazole is an antifungal drug. In shampoo form it is used to manage dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis associated with yeast on the scalp. Relieving flaking and itch can make a scalp routine easier to maintain, but it does not automatically reverse inherited follicle miniaturization. Small studies have explored hair-related outcomes; they do not give ketoconazole the same hair-regrowth evidence or indication as topical Minoxidil.
