Why photos beat the mirror
You see yourself every day, so slow changes are invisible. A monthly photo gives you a fair “before” to compare against — and helps you push through the slow early months when it feels like nothing is happening.
Set up your photo spot
- Pick one room with steady light, ideally overhead light or daylight from a window
- Use the same phone and camera setting each time
- Hair should be clean, dry and unstyled
- Ask someone to help, or use a timer and a small mirror for the crown
The five photos to take each month
| Angle | How |
|---|---|
| Front / hairline | Face the camera, hair pushed back |
| Top | Camera above your head, looking down |
| Crown | From behind and above |
| Left and right temples | Side profile, hair pushed back |
| Part line (if relevant) | Straight down on your usual part |
Keep a simple log
Alongside the photos, jot down a line or two each month:
- Date you started and how many doses you missed
- Any shedding phase and when it settled
- Scalp comfort — itching, dryness or flaking
- New stress, illness or medication
When to review
Compare your first photos with those at four months and six months. If after four months of correct use you see no change at all, the label advises stopping and speaking with a doctor. If things look better, keep going — results often keep improving toward the one-year mark.

Frequently asked questions
How often should I take progress photos?
Once a month is enough. More often just makes slow change harder to see.
Should hair be wet or dry?
Dry and unstyled. Wet hair clumps and makes the scalp look thinner.

Individual results vary. Hair-growth products are used consistently over months, and outcomes depend on the cause and stage of hair loss.
