The most common pattern

Female pattern hair loss usually presents as diffuse thinning across the top of the scalp with a widening part, rather than a receding hairline. Density decreases while the overall outline of the hairline is often preserved.

Causes worth ruling out

Thyroid conditions, iron status, postpartum hormonal change, rapid weight loss and significant stress can all cause or contribute to shedding. Because several of these are reversible, a clinical assessment is genuinely useful before starting any long routine.

First practical steps

Document what you see, note when it started, and take a baseline photograph. Reduce traction from tight styles, keep the scalp comfortable, and give any treatment a defined trial period.
